About Fair Trade.
The Fair Trade movement aims to alleviate poverty in the developing ‘southern’ areas of world, such as Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. Building positive trading relationships with poorer disadvantaged farmers Fair Trade companies ensure the producers receive a fair price for their goods, ongoing confirmed orders and access to the rich markets of the developed countries in the ‘north’.
The Fair Trade movement is also campaigning to change the unfair international trade rules that currently favour rich countries rather than poor. In this way they also provide a contribution to sustainable development.
Fair Trade is now a strong force in Europe. Consumers are increasingly aware of these trade issues and they want the option and power to purchase positively. They need to know the history of the goods they buy, where it has been produced and in what conditions.
The fundamental principles of Fair Trade are:
Fair prices to producers.
Supporting producer organisations in their social and environmental aims.
Promoting gender equality in pay and working conditions.
Committing to long term relationships to provide stability and security.
What is BAFTS?
The British Association for Fair Trade Shops (BAFTS) is a network of UK based independent fair trade shops. They promote fair trade retailing in Great Britain, and raise the profile of fair trade on the High Street.

What’s brilliant about a bedspread?
With the ubiquitous duvet cover being prevalent in British bedrooms, you may be wondering if you really need to have a bedspread too. Well, let me tell you that once you have one you’ll wonder how you ever managed without one!
Here's why.....
1. It’s a matter of style.
A hand crafted beautiful cotton bedspread will add that touch of class to any home décor scheme.
2. It's summer and too hot for that duvet.
Our summers do seem to be getting longer and hotter, much too hot for our duvets. The answer is to have a cool Indian cotton printed bedspread, so your room is stylish throughout the day, and you are cool throughout the night.
3. It's winter and oh so chilly.
Picture this, it's 2am, February, and that icy air is managing to find a way under the duvet, particularly when your partner rolls over and takes the duvet with them! The solution is, of course, a bedspread, stopping those icy drafts getting to you so that you can be snug as a bug in a rug.
4. That duvet cover isn't right for that room.
Most of us have duvet covers that don’t really match our current décor but we still need to use them. Simply cover them with a practical Indian bedspread and that sense of style immediately returns to your room.
5. Gifts
So, considering all of the above reasons, our bedspreads are perfect gifts too.
Do you hold multiple items of each bedspread?
We have several ranges where it is possible to purchase in high volumes, particularly in our Contemporary and Luxury ranges, but most significantly in our Exclusive Collection, a range of bedspreads that are unique to us and cannot be found anywhere else. As for our other bedspreads most are only available in single quantity as they are hand made and one off items. Once such an item is sold it will be removed from the site. We add new items regularly so please do check back with us.

Do you sell single, queen and king size bedspreads?
Yes, we now have sizes in each size category but not for all lines. See the specific section for the size you require. Please check product details for sizing of each item.
What fabrics and techniques are used in your bedspreads?
All our bedspreads are cotton or wool based, and as many of these are made using a handloom there may be some very slight irregularities within the weave. This is not a fault but is intrinsic to this style of weaving and as such should be considered part of the richness of the product and a sign of a hand made item.

How do we shop on your site?
Simply browse through our categories by clicking on the menu bar or the search options on the left and you will then be presented with small pictures of each item. You can then click through the picture to get individual product details, and if you wish you can add it to your shopping cart. You can then either continue shopping for other items or proceed to the check out by following the appropriate buttons.

You can use any major UK debit and credit cards through our payment suppliers NoChex secure payment system.

No debit/credit card details are processed or stored at any time by us on our website. All debit/credit card payments made during on-line transactions are handled on our behalf by NoChex secure payment gateway using SSL 128 bit encryption.
Additional encryption is provided on the checkout pages using GeoTrust SSL certificates.
When will the order be delivered and by which postal method?

How much will I be charged for Packaging and Postage?
We have a tiered system based on weight which will calculate the additional cost for Package and Postage when you checkout. You will see the total before you complete your order.
We have endeavoured to keep our P&P costs to a minimum for you and the structure is as follows:
Up to 500gms - £2.50
500gms to 1kg - £4.50
1.1 kg to 2 kg - £5.50
2.1 kg to 5 kg - £6.50
5 kg to 25 kg - £8.50
